Tournament Format

Pool Play

Pools are seeded according to a team’s average Texas Top 100 rank. If one or more players on a team are not ranked on the Texas Top 100, teams will be seeded based on relative skill assessment, if possible. If a team’s skill level cannot be determined, they will be seeded randomly.

After seeding, teams will be placed into pools by snaking.

Pool play format will be determined by TASR once registration is closed and will change depending on the number of teams registered for a division. TASR may change this as needed to account for weather, large number of pools, inconsistent pool sizes, or other factors - but pools will typically use the following format:

  • 4 teams / pool: best 2 out of 3 series to 21, hard cap of 25 or best 2 out of 3 series to 15, hard cap of 21

  • 5 teams / pool: single game to 21, hard cap of 25 or best 2 out of 3 series to 15, hard cap of 21

  • 6 teams / pool: single game to 21, hard cap of 25

  • 7 teams / pool: single game to 15, hard cap of 25

  • 8 teams / pool: single game to 15, hard cap of 25

  • 9 teams / pool: single game to 15, hard cap of 25

Bracket Play

Teams will be seeded by pool play performance in the following order:

  • Inverse losses

  • Head-to-head

  • Point difference ratio

  • Coin flip or rock, paper, scissors

Brackets will be single-elimination, with each matchup being a best 2 out of 3 series to 21 with no hard cap. Teams will play out for every place meaning if you lose in the Round of 16, you will compete against all other teams who lost during that round for 9th place. Once out of the main bracket, all series are best 2 out of 3 series to 15 with no hard cap.
